Resident Evil 7 on track for series chart record

Resident Evil 7: biohazard has secured a second week at the top of the U.K. All Format Chart, bringing the survival horror title one step closer to equalling Resident Evil 3: Nemesis and Resident Evil 5’s chart success.

Both games managed to survive three weeks at number one, meaning Resi 7 has just one more week to go if it’s to match their success. There hasn’t been much in the way of competition this past week, although Nioh arrives next week to shake things up; whether or not it’ll be enough to boot Resi 7 off the top spot remains to be seen, however.

Resident Evil 7 was released on January 24 for PS4, PC, and Xbox One, although it sold through over 70 percent of all copies on Sony’s current-generation system. Capcom released a bunch of stats recently confirming that around 9 percent of Resi 7 players had experienced the game with PSVR. Despite the game’s success in the west, things didn’t get off to a great start for the game in Japan, with sales disappointingly low compared to Resi 6.

Resident Evil 7 will be supported by three expansion packs as part of the game’s Season Pass, the first of which, Banned Footage Vol.1, is already available on PS4. The second batch will drop on February 14, while the third has yet to be detailed by Capcom. In addition, Resi 7 players will also receive a free story-based expansion, Not a Hero, in spring 2017.
