Resident Evil HD has best opening sales in PSN history

Capcom has announced that the high-definition remaster of the GameCube Resident Evil remake is the publisher’s fastest-selling PlayStation Network title to date.

The milestone applies to both North America and Europe, where the survival horror title hit PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 in mid-January.

In addition, the game also smashed records for digital opening day sales of a PSN title.

Resident Evil Zero is hotly-tipped to be next in line for the HD treatment, which currently remains a GameCube-exclusive since its launch in November 2002.

Whether or not Resident Evil’s success will convince Capcom to remake the much-requested Resident Evil 2 remains to be seen, but its success certainly bodes well for the the series’ future as a survival horror franchise.
