Capcom’s revealed that Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City has flogged 1.7 million copies worldwide as of March 31, 2012.
Developed by Slant Six Games, the game was widely panned by critics – including PSU.com – though managed to debut in first place in the U.K. and Japan. It also sold impressively in the U.S., debuting in the Top Five.
By now the game has likely surpassed the two million mark, given that it debuted in Japan with 269,000 units sold back in April. It has also been selling steadily in the U.S. and Europe since release.
Elsewhere, Street Fighter x Tekken has moved 1.4 million units globally since its launch in March 2012, while 3DS title Monster Hunter Tri G has sold 1.6 million.
Despite this, all wasn’t rosy at the Capcom codehouse, with the Japanese giant’s net sales down 16 per cent year-on-year to 82 billion yen. Operating income, meanwhile, dropped by 13.8 per cent to 12.3 billion yen.
