Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City unveiled

Capcom’s officially lifted the wraps off Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, confirming the horror-based shooter’s due for release this winter on PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 platforms.

Developed by Slant Six Games, the game – as previously reported via an OXM leak – takes players back to the height of the T-Virus outbreak in Raccoon City in fall of 1998. Taking the form of a squad-based shooter, Operation Raccoon City sees gamers battling it out against opposing forces as well as the myriad of Bio-organic Weapons (BOWs) roaming the streets.

Players hop into the shoes of an Umbrella Security Services (U.S.S.) solider for a solo or four-player co-op shoot-out, as you attempt to sweep evidence of Umbrella’s involvement in the outbreak under the carpet. Expect to traverse a number of classic locations such as the Raccoon Police Department and encounter a number of familiar faces, including then-rookie cop, Leon S. Kennedy.

Elsewhere, Operation Raccoon City also offers up a selection of online multiplayer modes, allowing for “a unique gaming experience thanks to the three way combat between the Umbrella Security Service, US Special Ops and threat of zombies and B.O.W’s that could only exist in the deadly and twisted Resident Evil Universe.”

Stay tuned for more details as they break.
