Resident Evil: Raccoon City rumors resurface

Fresh tidbits on the rumored Slant Six Games-developed Resident Evil: Raccoon City have popped up via the chaps over at The Kartel.

According to the site, the game will introduce a new cast of characters to the series, with no mention of any familiar faces cropping up. As you might have twigged from the title, the game will take place in the doomed Raccoon City, which was obliterated by a nuclear missile at the climax of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. Naturally, this points to a prequel.

Supposedly the game will be a team-based affair along the lines of the PlayStation 2 spin-off horror romp, Resident Evil: Outbreak. That’s about all we know at the moment, and it’s the first we’ve heard on the game since initial rumblings cropped up back in November 2010.

Whether or not this is the mysterious Resident Evil PSP that Sony unveiled back at E3 2009 remains to be seen. There’s a chance, however, that the project has since made the jump to NGP. Stay tuned.
