Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, Producer on Resident Evil: Veronica, has revealed during an interview with WCCFTech that both Yasuhiro Anpo and Kazunori Kadoi, the same duo who worked on the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4, are helming the upcoming survival horror project.
When asked about the progress Capcom has made with RE: Veronica so far, Hirabayashi-san kept his cards close to his chest, but noted work on the game started around the time Resident Evil 4 Remake was wrapping up. He then revealed that Anpo-san and Kadoi-san are heading up the Veronica project.
First off, we at CAPCOM love our surprises, so I am going to keep the next information drop a secret. As for development, the team is made up of members who worked on the Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4 remakes. They started working on the Veronica project right around the time development on the RE4 remake began to wind down.
Most of the direction is centralized around a team led by Director Yasuhiro Anpo and Associate Director Kazunori Kadoi, who previously headed the RE2 and RE4 remakes. With that said, it is a massive team effort involving many individuals. There are other team members who share high-level responsibilities alongside the directors, and I hope we can introduce them to you at a later time.
Resident Evil: Veronica is slated for release in 2027 for PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S. The game is a full reimagining of the Dreamcast classic Resident Evil – CODE: Veronica, and picks up three months after the events of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3. Here, Claire Redfield is searching for her brother Chris (hero of the original game), before being captured by Umbrella and taken to Rockfort Island, which suffers an outbreak of the T-Virus.
