Resident Evil Zero HD Remaster release date confirmed, pre-order costumes detailed

Capcom has announced that Resident Evil Zero HD Remaster will launch on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 on January 19, 2016.

The game will be available to download from the PlayStation Store for $19.99/£15.99, with pre-orders netting you an extra costume for protagonists Billy Coen and Rebecca Chambers in the shape of the Wolf Force and Cheerleader outfits, respectively. In addition, you can also grab a Resident Evil Zero-themed t-shirt as a preorder item that Rebecca can wear in-game.

Resident Evil Zero HD Remaster will also be packaged with Resident Evil HD Remaster as part of the Resident Evil Origins Collection. The pack releases in the U.S. on January 19 and January 22 in Europe.

Originally released on the Nintendo GameCube in 2002, Resident Evil Zero (known as Biohazard Zero in Japan) takes place 24 hours before the events of the original survival horror classic, focusing on the S.T.A.R.S. Bravo Team as the investigate a series of grisly murders in Raccoon Forest. Players control rookie medic Rebecca Chambers, who becomes separated from her team after splitting to search a seemingly abandoned train in the woods, only to find it populated by zombies and other creatures. Chambers soon teams up with Billy Coen, an escaped prisoner convicted of murdering 23 people, as the pair attempt to survive the night and get to the bottom of what’s happening to the area.

Unlike previous games in the series, Resident Evil Zero eschews the item boxes in favour of an inventory system that allows you to drop items anywhere you wish to free up more space. Furthermore, the game also allows you to switch instantaneously between Chambers and Coen, taking advantage of their unique abilities to battle enemies and solve puzzles. The high-definition version features new content not seen in the GameCube release, such as extra costumes and a new Wesker Mode.
