Resistance dev isn’t planning on making NGP games in-house

Insomniac Games has said that while it will “support Sony” in facilitating the development of Next-Generation Portable (NGP) software, the company is primarily focused on churning out games for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

That’s according to Insomniac community boss James Stevenson at a Los Angeles event yesterday (via Kotaku), who touched on the subject of making NGP games, saying “it’s probably not something we would develop in-house.”

As many will probably be aware of by now, Resistance NGP is currently in the works at Nihilistic Software, the same folk responsible for PlayStation Move Heroes.

As for Insomniac, the developer’s California-based team is currently hammering away on Resistance 3 for PS3, while its Carolina studio is working on Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One. Meanwhile, a fresh IP is also in the works for PS3 and 360.

Resistance isn’t the only major IP that’s making the transition to NGP, with handheld iterations in the Uncharted and Killzone series also in the works for Sony’s pint-sized platform.
