Apex Legends players logged into their accounts to find all their achievements and stats wiped, their skins gone, and everything that made their account theirs, gone, thanks to a bug in the game’s latest update that caused this havoc.
Respawn did its best to respond to the situation, though with players losing coveted ‘Predator’ badges and heirlooms, things that they acquired through hours and hours of grinding and work to improve in the former, and generally a lot of money spent in the latter, tensions got high.
Players were understandably not happy and concerned for their accounts, and Respawn responded to the issue with an apology, and an attempt to quell that fear in its most dedicated players.
“We messed up! In order to resolve an account data loss issue, we are temporarily taking the @PlayApex servers offline. Fear not! We are deploying a fast fix to restore progress and content to affected accounts, but players will not be able to connect to the game during this time. We’re hopeful that the game will be back up in about an hour. Stay tuned for more updates, and in the meantime, please accept our apologies, and our thanks for your patience!”
At the time of writing, a patch has been issued and players should no longer be missing out on content.
