A number of popular online retail sites have listed the survival horror title Silent Hill Origins for release on PlayStation 2, claiming the game will be available for purchase on Sony’s last-generation console in March 2008.
Both Amazon and Gamefly have the Mature (M) rated game listed on their websites, with consumers able to pre-order the title, which supposedly ships on March 31.
Silent Hill Origins was released last October exclusively for the PlayStation Portable. Rumours of a possible PS2 port emerged late last year, though developer Climax has gone on record to deny any plans to release the game on other platforms.
The game serves as a prequel to the original 1999 release, pitting gamers in the shoes of truck driver Travis O’ Grady, who finds himself caught up in the fog bound streets after rescuing a young girl from nearby house fire.
Stay tuned for more information on a possible PS2 port here at PSU as it becomes available. Expect a review of the PSP release in the next few days.
