Return to Silent Hill has finally been given a release date for cinema: January 23, 2026. The movie was announced back in 2022 alongside Konami’s plans to resurrect the Silent Hill franchise — Silent Hill 2 Remake and Silent Hill f of course form part of those plans — and is based on the critically acclaimed second entry in the franchise.
Christophe Gans, who directed the original 2006 Silent Hill movie adaptation, return to helm this latest big screen entry in the psychological horror series. The movie stars Jeremy Irvine as James Sunderland, who, having been separated from his one true love, Mary, travels to Silent Hill after receiving a mysterious letter calling him back to the foggy town. Much like the game, Jame finds Silent Hill inhabited by grotesque creatures as he battles to survive while uncovering the mystery of what happened to the town as he attempts to find Mary.

Anyone familiar with Silent Hill 2 will recognise that the synopsis is pretty accurate its source material, although there are some major changes. For one, it doesn’t mention that Mary died of a mysterious illness three year prior, nor does it confirm that James and Mary were married. Still, hopefully the overall direction of the film will prove to be a worthy adaptation of Silent Hill 2.
In related news, Bloober Team announced that it is developing a Silent Hill Remake as part of its ongoing collaboration with Konami.
