Returnal On PC Is Off To A Slow Start With Under 7,000 Concurrent Players On Steam

Returnal is out now for PC, but it seems that the game has gotten off to a pretty slow start, attracting fewer than 7,000 concurrent players on Steam during its first weekend. By comparison, only SackBoy: A Big Adventure performed worse, recording 610 during its peak.

Sony has been releasing a number of its major exclusives for the PC over the past few years, including God of War, Marvel’s Spider-Man, Horizon Zero Dawn and Days Gone. Of those games, God of War was by far the most successful, attracting 74,000 concurrent players in its opening period.

Returnal is a brand new IP and is obviously not as popular as God of War and Marvel’s Spider-Man, so the fact it hasn’t attracted big numbers isn’t all that surprising.
