Riot Games Confirms That Over 30 Staff Members Have Been Laid Off

Riot Games, the developer behind League of Legends and Valorant, has confirmed that it has made further layoffs to its team, with over 30 staff members having lost their jobs.

27 of the layoffs have been confirmed to have impacted the League of Legends team, while five additional staff members have lost their jobs across undisclosed roles. Speaking in a statement issued to Eurogamer, the company said:

Rioters who were laid off will have the ability to use our internal job board to apply for any open roles across the company.

Unfortunately this is the second time this year that Riot Games had made reductions in its workforce, as back in January the developer confirmed that it had cut some 530 jobs, accounting for nearly 11% of its team.

Riot Games was founded in 2006 by Brandon Beck and Marc Merrill, and was later acquired by Tencent in 2011. Riot Games currently has over 20 offices worldwide, and has been on the receiving end of allegations and lawsuits fore foresting a toxic workplace culture, including sexual harassment.
