Rock Band will no doubt be one of the premier games this holiday season. Unveiled at this year’s E3 Media & Business summit, the game has quickly become one of the most highly anticipated games of 2007; so much so, in fact, that Electronic Arts has warned consumers that demand may exceed quantity this holiday season.
"If I were you, on the 19th of November I would get in line outside of your favorite retailer," EA’s John Riccitiello told investors. "We’ve got a lot of inventory coming, and my expectation is it will sell through.
He further went on to say that unless you pre-order or camp out that night, you will be unlikely to get your hands on a copy in time for Christmas.
"This is definitely not a sprint. We’re not going to be able to put enough inventory to meet demand in North America and Europe this calendar year or this fiscal [year]."
IT should be noted that EA’s current fiscal year does not end until March 2008. So there you have it, you heard it here so do not come back complaining. Rock Band is going to be a hot commodity like the PS3 was last November, if you want one, you will just have to go that extra mile to obtain a copy.
Developed by Harmonix and published by MTV Games, Rock Band is a unique IP that allows up to 4 players team up on the vocals, bass guitar, lead guitar, and drums to create the ultimate rockstar experience. The game will feature some of the biggest artistes of all time, along with an ample quantity of songs to choose from.
What makes Rock Band even more intriguing is that gamers will be allowed to take their skills online and team up with people from around the globe to bring together their own unique individual talents to assemble a first-class rock band.
Rock Band is slated to release in North America on November 20th with European/Australian release dates coming in Q1 2008.
