Everyone’s favorite football-bashing physics-based vehicular combat game Rocket League is set to receive its first post-release DLC (both free and paid) as well as a patch that’s set to tinker and tailor the experience even further.
As far as free content goes, gamers will get their grubby mitts on a free Utopia-inspired map DLC pack, which brings back a classic map from the game’s predecessor Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars. It won’t however be circular like in the original game but rather a stadium as is the standard with Rocket League’s maps. Pearlescent paint is also rumored to be included.
A paid ”Supersonic Fury” DLC pack is also in the works which features two new vehicles. You can check out the concept image of the first right here while the second’s been confirmed as a muscle car.
Both DLC packages are set for release in the coming weeks.
For the future, developer Psyonix has announced that it’s working on 3v3 ranked matches, a spectator mode, a solution for playing with friends on another platform, and some sort of punishment for players who quit ranked matches prematurely, although this isn’t 100 percent confirmed for this forthcoming patch. Also, as a thank you for players’ patience throughout the server issues that plagued the game’s launch on PlayStation Plus this month, we’ll get several in-game items, one of which is ‘skull wheels’.
Here’s a rundown of the patch notes (bearing in mind most of these are PC-related):
– Player’s win/loss ratio on the stats page will now be displayed as a win percentage instead.
– A "Mouse Sensitivity" setting in the options menu for PC users.
– Fixed the "Virtuoso" achievement not unlocking on PC.
– Fixed item tracking stats for online games.
– Punishments for players who leave during ranked matches (not 100% confirmed for the next patch).
Thanks to Rocket-league.com for the compilation of features within both the DLC and patch.
