Rockstar Films trademark filed by Take-Two

Publishing giant Take-Two Interactive has trademarked ‘Rockstar Films,’ sparking fresh speculation that the company is looking to bring lucrative franchises such as Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption to the silver screen.

Furthermore, the domains RockStarFilms.com and RockStarFilms.net are also owned by Take-Two. The summary for the trademark is as follows:

“Animated motion picture films featuring entertainment, namely, action, adventure, dramatic, comedic, children’s and documentary themes; pre-recorded video discs and other pre-recorded digital and electronic media in the field of live action programs, motion pictures, or animation featuring entertainment, namely, action, adventure, dramatic, comedic, children’s and documentary themes.”

From the look of things the firm is keen on following in the footsteps of fellow industry heavyweight Ubisoft, who earlier this year launched Ubisoft Motion Pictures to focus on spin-offs for Assassin’s Creed, Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon.

Stay tuned for more info as we get it.
