Rockstar Games has said that development on the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto IV is “virtually complete”, adding more fuel to suggestions that the upcoming crime romp will hit shelves on April 29, 2008.
News comes following an extensive preview by website CVG, where a representative for the company stated, "The game is in a very, very different place now," adding, "It’s improved in virtually every single way imaginable.
"When we first showed the game a year ago, we said it was really early – it was the earliest we’ve ever shown a GTA game. A year later and just three/four months away from release you’re looking at a game that’s virtually complete."
The rumoured April 29 release date, first reported by trade website MCV, has been the favour of hot topic for several weeks now, putting the game’s release at the tail end of Take-Two’s fiscal fourth quarter.
CVG’s preview highlights that the developers are currently polishing up a few details and organising licensing for the copious amounts of music to be featured in the final product. However, the preview code is said to be “looking rock solid.”
Grand Theft Auto IV is due out on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
