Rocksteady Studios, the developer behind Batman: Arkham City, has admitted its unsure what the future holds in regards to making more games based on the legendary Dark Knight.
Speaking to CVG, Dax Ginn, Marketing Game Manager at Rocksteady, said more games would be possible providing the studio still ‘has stories to tell,’ though made it clear nothing has been set in stone.
"I mean I think as long as we’re still enjoying it and as long as we feel we can contribute to the Batman universe… that’s how it feels."
"There’s some amazing stuff going on with Batman all around the world at the moment and we feel as though we’re making our own little contribution in the form of the Arkham-verse.
"So as long as we’ve got stories to tell," he added. "So long as we feel we can do that and do that really well.”
"I don’t know what’s going to happen in the future but right now I feel like we’re in a real sweet spot with the games that we’re making, the opportunities that we have so I don’t really want that to change."
Rocksteady reinvigorated the superhero videogame genre with 2009’s critically acclaimed Batman: Arkham Asylum, which won plaudits for its compelling story telling, satisfying combat and stellar line-up of iconic Batman villains.
The much-anticipated follow-up, Arkham City, will be released for PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 in the U.S. on October 18. A European launch follows on October 21.
