Rumbleverse Developer Iron Galaxy Studios Lays Off 66 People In An Effort To “Enable Our Long-Term Survival”

Rumbleverse developer Iron Galaxy Studios announced that it has laid off 66 people as part of an effort for the studio to survive “long-term.”

In a statement published on the studio’s LinkedIn page, Iron Galaxy discussed the overall struggles that the entire industry has faced, and how Iron Galaxy has by no means been immune, calling Rumbleverse’s servers being shut down last February “a premature sunset.”

“Today, Iron Galaxy is parting ways with some of our developers and support staff. In total, we have reduced our employee base by 66 people,” the studio wrote. “This was a means of last resort for us. It’s a measure we do not take lightly to enable our long-term survival.”

Since Rumbleverse was taken offline last year, Iron Galaxy has been working with Naughty Dog and Nixxes to bring The Last Of Us Part II Remastered to PC, though when it comes to original games from the studio, it’s not clear what the team has been working on.

“Iron Galaxy is still committed to serving our partners in the creation of games,” the studio continued. “Our capabilities remain intact to work with the best companies in the world on the most beloved player experiences. This year, we’ll continue to explore new ways to support an industry we love and keep working towards its ongoing recovery.”
