Rumor: Dead Space getting FPS title, ‘Uncharted-like game’

Kotaku reports that Electronic Arts is looking to expand its Dead Space franchise with the addition of three new projects.

According to the site, the company is planning to churn out a first-person title, a flight-based spin-off and finally, an “Uncharted-like game.”

Furthermore, it also claims that Dead Space 3 was almost shelved after new management at EA rocked up claiming the franchise doesn’t sell on the same level as triple-A adventure titles such as Uncharted.

The most recent entry in the series, Dead Space 2, hit stores back in January and has sold over two million units globally. Despite being an improvement over its predecessor, EA still reckons it can do better.

As for Dead Space 3, the sequel will supposedly bring closure to Isaac Clarke’s story and will be set on an icy planet, replacing the dark, claustrophobic corridors of past games with blinding snow storms.

EA has yet to officially announce the game, though it shouldn’t be too long until we hear something – maybe a Spike VGA reveal is on the cards? We’ll just have to wait and see.
