Rumor – E3 2022 To Be A Digital-Only Event Once Again

Respected leaker Tom Henderson has revealed that E3 2022 is going to be a digital-only event, citing emails that have been distributed by the ESRB to developers this week.

While nothing official has been announced yet by E3 organisers, it’s interesting to hear there will be no physical version this year at all, particularly after GamesCom announced a physical and online hybrid for this year’s show.

E3 has been a digital-only affair since 2020 due to the impact of the coronavirus, although this has been the case for all major events the past few years. COVID-19 hasn’t gone away, but in certain territories restrictions have eased greatly, with large venues opening for concerts, sports, and other major events that house thousands of people.

Regardless, as Henderson notes, we probably won’t have to wait long to find out official details if these emails have indeed been sent out.
