A listing for Mass Effect 3’s Collector’s Edition on a South African retail site (spotted by NeoGAF) has claimed the sci-fi RPG will utilize an ‘online multiplayer pass.’
This isn’t the first time multiplayer has been rumored for Shepard’s epic swansong, despite the fact developer BioWare has previously dismissed talk of such a feature being in the game.
Things kicked up a gear when publisher Electronic Arts said at its presser in Las Vegas last week that it would be announcing “big news that a lot of you have been eagerly awaiting” for Mass Effect 3 “within the week.”
Talk of ‘secret feature X’ has been doing the rounds over the summer too, which was teased in a Twitter post by members of the development team.
Mass Effect 3 is scheduled for release on PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 on March 6, 2012.
