The super sleuths over at GamerZines have churned up some pretty convincing evidence that the zombie project due to be unveiled at the 2010 Spike Video Game Awards is none other than a fresh entry in the Resident Evil series.
First up, we have a new teaser trailer for the December 11 event, where viewers can make out the words “Stay Alive, Stay Alert, Report Symptoms” if the video is paused at just the right moment – that is, when the footage tells you to “look closely.”
Obviously this alone isn’t enough to confirm the existence of a Resident Evil title, but there’s also the “Infected” teaser to consider, which upon closer scrutiny, contains the biggest hint yet that what we could be getting is a new title in Capcom’s venerable survival horror series.
GamerZines notes that the silhouette of the zombie in the teaser bares an uncanny resemblance to the one shown here, which is taken from a print of a T-shirt in the official Resident Evil merchandise line. Furthermore, another shambling undead that appears in the teaser is also featured on the shirt, albeit facing a different direction.
At first it was speculated that the game could be a new Left4Dead title, though upon reflection, it seems likely we’ll be getting a new Resident Evil offering. Quite what this will be remains a mystery, though web chatter seems to point towards the rumored ‘Resident Evil: Raccoon City’ game from SOCOM studio Slant Six Games.
We’ll be sure to keep you updated on any developments.
