Rumor – PS4, PS5 Discord Integration Is Happening In March 2023

According to a report on Insider-Gaming, PS4/PS5 Discord integration is being lined up for March 2023 alongside the next major update for Sony’s current-generation home console.

Previously, an image of the Discord mobile app showcasing PS4 and PS5 integration had many believe that the service would be coming to PlayStation sooner rather than later. Instead, it’s apparently happening on March 8, 2023, to coincide with PS5 system update 7.00.

Sources close to Insider-Gaming have said that update 6.50 is due out on January 19, 2023, although noted “nothing suggests this is the Discord update.” However, it seems that while PS5 will display the game you’re playing and support voice chat, the PS4 will only display what title you are playing.

Discord integration with PlayStation consoles has been a long time coming, as the feature was announced by PlayStation boss Jim Ryan back in May 2021.

Together, our teams are already hard at work connecting Discord with your social and gaming experience on PlayStation Network. Our goal is to bring the Discord and PlayStation experiences closer together on console and mobile starting early next year, allowing friends, groups, and communities to hang out, have fun, and communicate more easily while playing games together.

Sony hasn’t officially announced when Discord will be supported on PS4 & PS5, but for now, it appears to be happening in early March next year.
