While Sony has remained quiet on the release of a successor to the PlayStation Portable, website Pocket Gamer has claimed via an inside developer source that the new hardware is very much in the works and should be with us by Christmas.
The PSP2 is to be far more similar to the iPhone than the current model, being a much more compact device with a large touchscreen. According to the source, the touchscreen will slide open, revealing familiar buttons, such as Dual Analogue Controls and D-pads.
Full specs and pricing details are likely to be unveiled at the E3 Media and Business Summit in June. File this under rumor for the time being, just to be on the safe side – stay tuned.
