Rumor – Sony Set To Make 5% Investment In Devolver Digital

According to a report on GI.biz, Sony Interactive Entertainment is poised to make a 5% investment in publisher Devolver Digital.

The company is currently trading on the London Stock Exchange’s sub-market, AIM, in wake of a flotation valuing Devolver Digital at nearly one billion dollars. Fieldfisher, the law firm that is advising the publisher, confirmed that it had received a “significant strategy investment from a key industry player.”

An official announcement regarding the investment has yet to be made by Sony or Devolver Digital.

Devolver Digital is best known for distributing a variety of indie games, and has been active since its formation in 2009. The company is set to publish a number of major titles in the coming months, including Shadow Warrior 3 and Demon Throttle.

Said Douglas Morin, CEO Devolver Digital:

An IPO is the right choice for us to ensure our continued growth and support even more wonderful games. Most importantly, it will allow us to retain our culture. Being a public company gives liquidity to our amazing team, all of whom are shareholders. It also gives us access to capital markets to continue investing in our growth strategy and talent.
