Rumour – Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe Is ‘Darkest Assassin’s Creed Game Ever’

Ubisoft’s upcoming Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe will reportedly be the ‘darkest’ entry in the long-running franchise to date, according to a new report by Insider-Gaming.

Not only will the game be the darkest Assassin’s Creed game yet, but it will also reportedly feature a female protagonist known as Elsa, although Henderson claims that this is the character’s “current” name and it is subject to change.

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate and Assassin’s Creed Chronicles China both featured a female protagonist, although in the case of the former, Evie shared the spotlight with her brother, Jacob, with players able to switch between them.

While on the subject of Assassin’s Creed Hexe, Henderson reports that the game will be release in 2026, so it’s still a couple of years away from release. Not much about the game has been confirmed yet, but it will reportedly take place during the European Witch trials towards the end of the Holy Roman Empire.

As previously reported, Assassin’s Creed Infinity, which is Ubisoft’s new hub for future Assassin’s Creed games, will see a major release every two years, with smaller experiences launching in between to keep players ticking over.
