Rumour — Astro Bot Looks Set To Add Tekken’s Heihachi Mishima

Astro Bot looks set to add a new bot in the form of Heihachi Mishima from the Tekken franchise, according to a now-deleted X post by Arrowhead Game Studios’ Johan Pilestedt featuring an image sent by Team Asobi.

The image features an updated design of Heihachi, who was featured as a bot in PS5’s pack-in title Astro’s Playroom. While nothing official has been announced yet by Team Asobi, the fact Pilestedt deleted his post suggests that it’s authentic.

Heihachi is one of, if not the most iconic character from Bandai Namco Games’ fighting franchise, having appeared in every instalment since its inception in 1994. As the head of the Mishima Zaibatsu, Heihachi has hosted the King of Iron Fist Tournament on more than a few occasions, and has come back from the dead at least twice — once after being blown up by a group of Jack robots, and the other after seemingly being killed by his son, Kazuya, and falling into the mouth of a volcano.

Astro Bot was released for the PS5 in September 2024, and has picked up numerous accolades over the past few months, earning its place as one of the best platformers of the generation. You can read our own verdict on the game here.
