Reuters is reporting that Sony has entered talks to acquire Kadokawa Corporation, the parent company of Elden Ring developer FromSoftware.
Talks are currently ongoing between both companies, and if successful, a deal could be negotiated within the coming weeks. When prompted for comment on the matter, Sony refused to respond, while Kadokawa said it couldn’t comment on the rumour.
Kadokawa Corporation isn’t just involved in video game; the Japanese media giant also owns a number book and manga publishing companies, as well as film production, DVD sales and cross media. It also has a majority share in FromSoftware, which would mean Sony would own the developer if the acquisition was successful.
