Journalist Jeff Grubb has claimed in the latest episode of The Last of the Nintendogs that Sony’s as-yet unannounced new God of War title, which is supposedly taking players back to Greece, has been pushed into 2026.
Speaking about which type of games he would like to see come to Nintendo Switch 2 down the line, Grubb commented, “I have Marathon and the unannounced new God of War Greek project, which I heard was pushed into 2026 as well.”

A new God of War game has been rumoured for some time now, although Sony has yet to announce anything. According to murmurs however, the game will take place in Greece — the setting for the earlier God of War games — and will incorporate Metroidvania elements, and is billed as a side story of sorts.
God of War celebrated its 20th anniversary back in March, with Sony releasing a series of free content for God of War Ragnarok to mark the occasion alongside a few other bits and bobs. However, hopes that a God of War Collection would be revealed during the festivities were dashed as it became clear there were no plans for one.
