Saint Seiya: Soldiers’ Soul announced for PS4 & PS3 with trailer & gameplay video

At their Global Gamers Day in Vegas this weekend, Bandai Namco Entertainment announced Saint Seiya: Soldiers’ Soul, a new game based on the beloved Shonen Jump series, and confirmed it will arrive in the west this fall for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PC via Steam.

Saint Seiya: Soldiers’ Soul is being developed by the famed studio Dimps, the company behind the recently-released Dragon Ball Xenoverse and the Dragon Ball Z Budokai series. The story campaign will take players from the Twelve Zodiac Temples arc to the battles against Hades.

On the PS4, Soldiers’ Soul will render at 1080p resolution at 60 frames per second along with additional graphical improvements compared to the PS3 version such as lighting and other effects. The art design is in line with the new anime Saint Seiya: Soul of Gold that premiered worldwide last Friday (streaming on Hulu) and gives it a newer look with still some of the the original 80s series style.

Like Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4, voiceover audio will include Japanese, English, along with Spanish and Portuguese as a sign of Bandai Namco’s support of Latin and South American fans.

While still in development, Soldiers’ Soul looks sleek, runs smooth, and looks plenty fun from the hands-off gameplay demo shown to me at the event. The combat appears fast with a variety of moves and snazzy special attacks, just what you would expect from Dimps. Producer Ryo Mito was unable to provide any other further details, such as the number of characters and other features, at this time, but if this is any indication so far, this is shaping up to be the Saint Seiya game fans have been waiting for.
