Speaking at its annual Gamer’s Day event in San Francisco yesterday, THQ announced that the upcoming action title, Saints Row 2, would be released in North America on August 26, 2008.
The publisher also announced the opening of the official Saints Row 2 website, which contains a new video for fans to view, in addition to confirming that pre-orders for the game are now being accepted.
Set a few years after the original title, Saints Row 2 features "a much darker and more sinister story that leads your character down a path of betrayal, revenge and redemption against the city that has left him for dead."
The game will contain a number of improvements over its predecessor, such as new weather effects, enhanced Pedestrian AI, along with a plethora of new vehicles, including boats, monster trucks and helicopters.
Saints Row 2 is due out on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
