According to an analysis by data engineer Michael Driscoll, PS5 and Xbox Series scalpers have made over a massive 28 million in profit through eBay.
Driscoll says that he wrote a script that allowed him to scape all of eBay’s sold listings for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S through December 1. His findings reveal that over 60,000 next-generation consoles were moved through eBay, among which includes 25,642 PS5s, 22,932 Xbox Series X systems, 7,322 PS5 Digital Edition consoles, and 6,863 Xbox Series S units shifted.
Interestingly, the standard PS5 had a median selling price point of $1,021, pulling in some $19 million in profit for resellers, while the PS5 Digital-Only Edition was pegged at $937.

The PS5 was released in the US on November 12 and in the UK on November 19, and has been difficult to get hold of since launch. Some retailers have restocked the system since, but they sold out within minutes.
UK retailers are not expecting to receive anymore PS5 consoles in stock until early 2021.
