Sony Computer Entertainment America today announced that Guy W. Longworth is now in the role of Senior Vice President, Marketing and PlayStation Network. In this role, Longworth will oversee all aspects of SCEA marketing, including products, promotions, and brand management. He joins the SCEA force on Oct. 31.
"Guy’s extensive background and experience with consumer marketing in multiple categories make him uniquely qualified to help deliver our messages to consumers and effectively impact our brand," said Jack Tretton, SCEA’s president and CEO. "He brings with him an experienced understanding of the marketing industry and has a strong record of consumer-driven success. Guy will be an integral part of our marketing efforts across the PlayStation brand moving forward."
Longworth’s background includes some 20 years of consumer marketing for companies like Kraft Foods, Kellogg’s, and Procter & Gamble. He’s also the founder of Annapurna One, and developed marketing strategies that returned Jemella Ltd to profitability within 12 months.
So, what does this mean for the PlayStation brand? We’ll likely see some new marketing campaigns for products and the PlayStation Network. Beyond that, only time will tell.
