Sony America has confirmed that it will begin shipping standalone 320GB PlayStation 3 SKUs to retailers across the country starting from today.
The high-end machine was previously only available as part of a PlayStation Move pack, which retailed for a wallet-draining $399.99 USD. However, the unit will now be up for grabs for $349.99 USD minus Sony’s motion-controller and is being aimed at download-hungry consumers.
"The digital distribution trend is undeniably gaining momentum, and we here at PlayStation are committed to providing you with the hardware you need to support as much downloadable media as possible,” said Sony in a statement issued today.
"The 320GB PS3 system, which will retail for $349.99, has the largest storage capacity of any next-gen console and will continue to provide the same high-quality gaming that PlayStation fans have come to expect. For only $50 more, you get twice the storage capacity of the 160GB system."
The 320GB was released in UK territories last month.
