Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has today announced the release of a special PlayStation 3 Starter Pack across European territories, rather than pursuing a price cut similar to that of North America.
Due to go on sale across the United Kingdom on July 18th, and in Europe from August 1st, the Starter Pack will contain a PlayStation 3 60GB console, two Sixaxis controllers, and a choice of two first-party titles from a list including Resistance: Fall of Man, MotorStorm, Genji: Days of the Blade, Formula One: Championship Edition and Ridge Racer 7. The Starter Pack will retail for approximately GBP 425/EUR 599, which is the same price as the original 60GB package.
"With sell through of over 1.2 million units in the SCEE territories to date, PlayStation 3 has proved to be an instant and huge success," commented David Reeves, president of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe.
