SCi takeover discussions end, Tomb Raider delayed

Eidos-owned publisher SCi has announced that it has ended discussions on the possible sale of the company, citing the firm received no sufficient offers “within the timeframe requested".

News of a possible takeover first materialised in September 2007, where the firm was said to have entered discussion with a number of companies on the matter, the names of who remain unknown.

In a statement issued this week, however, the company cemented its belief that no "sale of the company for its full value is likely to be achieved at the current time", and subsequently announced that all discussions on the matter "have been terminated today."

Furthermore, the firm went on to detail new "strategic and commercial opportunities” that have since materialised as a result of these discussions, which SCi plans to “explore and progress."

As a result, the company has revaluated its release schedule for 2008, and have decided to delay the release of the upcoming Tomb Raider Underworld until the fourth quarter of the year, along with three other nameless titles.

Stay tuned for more information on SCi and its plans for the next instalment in the Tomb Raider series as it breaks.
