While we posted a 10-minute gameplay clip of Square Enix’s Secret of Mana Remake just last week, we’re now here to show you how the remake looks compared to the 16-bit original that was released back in 1993!
YouTuber Cycu1 has done a side-by-side comparison of Secret of Mana Remake against the original. Obviously, the Remake looks way better, has more detailed sprites, and a more cinematic feel. However, for the most part, the Remake does feel like it’s staying true to the original, though with a few tweaks.
For a game released in the early ’90s, Secret of Mana for the SNES doesn’t look all that shabby, no? Maybe it’s due to the art style or the fact that 8-bit and 16-bit graphics are back in style these days, but whatever the case is, it’s definitely not ugly.
Secret of Mana Remake is set for a digital-only release on the PlayStation 4, Vita and PC this coming February 15, 2018. There will be physical releases for the PS4 and Vita versions but only in Japan.
