SEGA has announced that it will be cancelling HYENAS and a number of unannounced projects currently in development at its European studios.
Speaking in a recent press release on its official website, the company revealed that the decision comes as a result of ‘power profitability of the European region,’ and therefore has decided to scrap a number of projects.
In response to the lower profitability of the European region, we have reviewed the title portfolio of each development base in Europe and the resulting action will be to cancel “HYENAS” and some unannounced titles under development. Accordingly, we will implement a write-down of work-in-progress for titles under development.
HYENAS was in development at Creative Assembly and only last month SEGA admitted to the project being a difficult undertaking, and was in the process of adjusting its business model.
