Once a month we had the privilege of seeing how well hardware and software sold in the US, thanks to NPD figures. That’s all different now, and instead of seeing hardware sales, Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo will determine whether to post their sales figures. So far, Microsoft has reported its top spot with 484,989 units sold. NPD does provide general hardware information. For instance, hardware sales are down by 19 percent year-over-year for September.
NPD also changed how it reports software sales in the US. If a game is released across different platforms, it will only get one listing (see #2 Madden NFL 11 below). Check out the listing below to see software leaders for September.
