Flying Wild Hog has confirmed that Shadow Warrior will run at 1080p for PlayStation 4 and 900p on Xbox One.
Speaking with GamingBolt, Krzysztof Narkowicz (Lead Engine Programmer) and Michal Szustak (CEO and Game Director) revealed that both versions of the game – a reboot of the 3D Realms-developed 1997 classic – will clock in at 60fps.
“Shadow warrior is a fast paced game, so it was very important to have 60 fps. Also we didn’t want to cut any graphic features, so we decided to use 900p with 60fps,” said Narkowicz.
Squeezing 1080p out of the PS4 version wasn’t without a few hiccups, however.
“Mainly CPU issues, as our engine didn’t scale for more than 2-4 cores. This required a change of threading architecture and many parts of the engine needed a rewrite,” he said of the challenges faced with achieving the resolution.
Shadow Warrior is scheduled for release on PS4 and Xbox One later this year, with the PC version first out the door last September.
The game takes the form of a first-person shooter and stars Lo Wang, a ninja mercenary who is tasked with slicing up hordes of demonic adversaries. Aside from his signature Katana, Wang is also able to wield conventional firearms such as pistols, machine guns and shotguns, and is rewarded with ‘Karma’ points depending on his proficiency in combat.
