Shuhei Yoshida Says Soul Sacrifice 2 & Freedom Wars 2 Were In The Works Before Sony Switched Gears To PS4

Former Sony indie boss Shuhei Yoshida has revealed during an interview with Sacred Symbols+ that sequels to Soul Sacrifice and Freedom Wars were in development at one stage before Sony transitioned to the PS4 due to budget limitations.

We were actually working on Soul Sacrifice 2 and Freedom Wars 2, but because of budget limitation we had to stop and move on to PS4.

The executive also stated that the transition to PS4 is the primary reason that the PS Vita didn’t receive other iterations of Sony’s first-part IPs. Uncharted: Golden Abyss and Killzone Mercenary are two of the biggest PS Vita titles to come from major Sony first-party franchises, although these examples are few and far between, as the handheld didn’t see the same support in this respect as the PSP.
