Silent Hill 2 Remake Replaces PSSR With TSR In PS5 Pro Performance Mode In Latest Update

Digital Foundry has revealed in a recent report that the latest Silent Hill 2 Remake update, which was issued last week to fix issues on PS5 Pro, replaces PSSR with TSR for the game’s performance mode.

For those out of the loop, PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) as “an AI-driven upscaling that uses a machine learning-based technology to provide super sharp image clarity by adding an extraordinary amount of detail.” With its removal from the latest Silent Hill 2 Remake update, it now means that Bloober Team‘s horror title instead uses Unreal Engine 5’s own upscaling tech.

Silent Hill 2 Remake was released for PS5 and PC in October 2024, and completely overhauls the original 2001 horror classic from the ground-up using Unreal Engine 5. The story follows James Sunderland, who is called to the town of Silent Hill by his late wife, Mary, who in a letter requests that she’s waiting for him in their ‘special place.’
