Silent Hill 2 Remake fans have unearthed hidden messages on TV screens throughout the game that add credence to the popular time loop fan theory, which suggests that protagonist Jame Sunderland has embarked on his journey through the foggy town multiple times.
The findings come from YouTuber Shiba, who notes that a number of TV sets feature a hidden morse code amidst the static.
A message is playing on the TV in Brookhaven Hospital, transmitted in Morse code. The sound is mostly drowned out by the static from the TV, making it difficult to hear clearly. However, the Morse code is distinct, with a clicking noise that resembles a telegraph. The loud clicks mark the beginning of a signal, while the softer clicks signal its end. If we listen closely, we can decipher the following message.

According to Shiba, the TVs located in the cafeteria in Brookhaven Hospital and Toluca Prison’s lounge and break room feature a message that sounds like “AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN AND” on repeat. In addition, the Woodside Apartments, the hospital’s observation room, and Jack’s Inn Room 106 all features TVs with the message “WHY DID YOU DO IT JAMES,” in reference to a major plot revelation (no spoilers here just in case you haven’t finished the game).
As mentioned above, there’s a strong fan theory that James has been stuck in a loop and is constantly revisiting the town, with the various dead bodies encountered by players being James from alternate playthroughs. Furthermore, the collective photos contain a puzzle to solve that spells out “YOU’VE BEEN HERE FOR TWO DECADES.” The ‘AGAIN AND AGAIN” messages would certainly back up this theory.
Silent Hill 2 Remake was released for PS5 and PC in October 2024, and you can read our full review here.
