Announced a couple of days ago on the Bethesda forums, Skyrim VR has received another patch on PS4, providing a number of performance enhancements and bug fixes.
Alongside a “new main menu experience” and an increase in “the maximum value for the height offset slider”, the catchily named patch 1.4.40.0.8 delivers global improvements to visual fidelity, with the effects of this particular upgrade particularly noticeable on the PS4 Pro.
Skyrim VR Update 1.04 Move Controls Refined
Nice as a fresh coat of visual polish is, however, the most significant changes apply to the PlayStation Move controls. There are quite a few of them, but the important thing is they make the game far easier to control using the baton-shaped peripherals. Here they are in full:
- In direct movement, changed the secondary X button to move the player backwards
- Added a new option, enabled by default, to “Show Hands When Sheathed”
- Sheath/unsheath has been moved to hold secondary O
- Adjusted angle for spell targeting to be more comfortable
- The existing swimming has been moved to a new option for “Realistic Swimming”. Swimming by default now uses Direct Movement style controls
- Added option for HMD-relative direct movement instead of controller-relative direct movement
- Added a new option for “Realistic Bow Aiming” which uses both PS Move controllers to aim
- Players can now point at map markers and get information on them in local map mode
Skyrim VR is currently available for £49.99 on the PlayStation store, while a VR headset will set you back somewhere in the region of £250 if you head over to the Game website or, if you fancy stretching your legs, the nearest store.
The Skyrim VR update 1.04 is now available to download.
