The launch of SNOW, Poppermost Productions’ free-to-play skiing and snowboarding game for PS4, will be preceded by a beta phase at some point in 2015.
Talking exclusively with PlayStation Universe, Alexander Bergendahl, CEO & Game Director of Poppermost Productions, confirmed the news saying: “We think that beta testing is an important part in any game’s development. It gives us the chance to test the overall concept in a live setting before launching fully.
He also spoke about the company’s decision to bring its ambitious title exclusively to PS4.
“It was really a no-brainer for us to partner with Sony and exclusively bring SNOW to the PS4, “ says Alexander. “Sony has really hit the nail on the head with the PS4 with the hardware and software, but also with their support of new business models, like free-to-play. They have a dedicated free-to-play team that are supporting us as we bring the game to their platform in 2015.”
SNOW is an open-world game that boasts a huge area of lush alpine terrain spanning 280 km2. Built using CryEngine, players will be able to explore uncharted terrain, take part in slope-style and time-trials events and compete against friends. Some of the biggest brands have partnered with SNOW to offer a host of character customisation options, including Armada, Scott and Red Bull. A map editor will also allow players to add ramps, jumps and rails on the mountainside.
The full interview with Poppermost Productions will be published later this week. In the meantime, check out the latest trailer.
