Box Office Mojo has revealed that the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie has pulled in $146,258,543 in North America, which means it’s now the highest-grossing video game film of all time in the country.
The Blue Blur’s latest cinematic outing has steams ahead of Pokemon: Detective Pikachu, Uncharted, and Sonic the Hedgehog, although in terms of worldwide box office takings, it’s still got way to go. Globally, the first Sonic the Hedgehog still sits ahead of it, as does The Angry Birds Movie, Uncharted, Detective Pikachu, and Warcraft.
However, it’s worth noting that Sonic 2 still hasn’t been released in Japan yet and it’s unknown if it will see the light of day in Russia due to the invasion of Ukraine. As such, we’ll have to wait a while before we find out what its worldwide takings are.
