Sony Appears To Be Encouraging PS4 Users To Upgrade To The PS5

Sony is reportedly trying to encourage PS4 users to upgrade to the PS5, with the hardware manufacturing now sending out system messages suggesting that users check out the latest deals for its latest home console, including its upcoming slate for 2026.

X user Zuby_Tech has shared an image of the message that Sony is now apparently sending out to PS4 users, which clearly has Sony nudging them to upgrade to the PS5. It reads as follows:

Whether you’re catching up with hits from 2025 like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, ARC Raiders, and Ghost of Yotei, or getting ready for the most-anticipated games of 2026, including SAROS, 007 First Light, Nioh 3, and so much more, now’s the perfect time to upgrade to a PS5 console. PS5 is now over five years old, and Sony has slowly started transitioning away from the PS4 with its major first-party efforts; for example, Marvel’s Wolverine and Saros are PS5-exclusives, and even titles like 2023’s Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 were not available on PS4. In addition, Sony is also focussing more on PS5 with its monthly PS Plus free games, with PS4 games only being offered occasionally as of January 2026.

Taking all this into consideration, it’s not surprising that the format holder would want to encourage PS4 users to make the jump to PS5.
