Sony commits to the PS2

Sony America president and CEO Jack Tretton has reinforced the company’s commitment to the PlayStation 2 at its E3 press conference this morning. The platform holder plans to release 100 new titles for the console this year, expanding the PS2’s current catalog of 2,000 titles.

Tretton states that Sony has a “commitment to the system as long as” gamers find a use for it. This means that even though most consoles have a 10-year life span, the PS2, in its 9th year, will likely be around quite a bit longer.
