Sony ‘confident’ Uncharted 4 will be a great game

Shuehi Yoshida, President of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios (SCE WWS), has expressed his supreme confidence in Naughty Dog delivering another knockout blow with its forthcoming action-adventure sequel, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.

Chatting with GameReactor, Yoshida-san was quizzed if he had one wish for Nathan Drake’s next outing, to which he replied:

“I just asked ‘please make a great game’ and they will make a great game. I’m totally confident. I’d rather not want to know the games in development too much, because that ruins my experience."

"That’s the good and bad part of my job: I have access to games so early in development and I’m not able to enjoy games like many people would."

Elsewhere, the executive also discussed the topic of movie-quality video games, stating that the likes of Naughty Dog strive to ensure storytelling and gameplay are seamlessly interwoven.

"Movie-like games are games in the end. It’s the interactivity that’s the most important thing, but the story adds to the impact of the interactivity. Games like Uncharted or The Last of Us… Naughty Dog tries very hard to not separate the storytelling for the gameplay."

"The storytelling and gameplay are seamlessly integrated. That’s the most important thing, and people enjoy that experience. We are not trying to make movies."

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End was showcased via a brief trailer during the climax of Sony’s E3 press conference earlier this month. A release date for the hotly anticipated title has yet to be announced.
